on a budget ,want to replace underhood batt and add second in back. chevy s10 blazer can only fit one size under hood with sidepost. looking at Deka intimidator group 78 for hood and a group 31 in back. How are the deka as starting batteries? Also with stock 110 alt and big 3 will it support aprx 1800wts

That rear battery alone should be able to push at least a 2500W RMS system. The front battery will easily start that vehicle as well. So that would be a very good setup for an 1800W RMS system. I would highly recommend doing the Big 3 in addition to the battery upgrade if it has not been done already. Also, a battery isolator is always recommended when using 2 different batteries. You can search the forums on the different types and their advantages.

i have a 98 amp alt in my cavlaier with a deka under hood and a group 31 in the back and that can support 3000 you should be just fine
really? I have stock battery and a batcap 2000 in the back.. running only about 1500 rms off of a 90 amp alt and my lights still dim.loopkiller said if i do upgrade front battery to get a batcap 2000 but i really don't have the money to buy another batcap 2000 new and i can't find any used.. maybe i should try a deka up front.. don't know

I think that Batcap 2000 is not able to power 1500W RMS. I know others here like the Batcap brand, but I am not a fan. What voltage is that Batcap resting at? Maybe it just isn't keeping a full charge due to the front battery drawing it down. I would be testing it out a little more if that was my car.

I think Deka batteries are a very good value. I don't think they are the best audio battery though. But the money some people have to spend to get the best batteries instead of a Deka is usually not justified.

it rest about 12.8. I did what we talked about the other day, toko everything out shortened my power and ground wires.. made sure all my fuse holders were tight, cleaned the grounds etc. didn't change much.. lights still dim though i have not put a dmm on the amps after I did this to see what my voltage is now after wards. ill do it this week and let you know

Well if it is resting at 12.8v then it is keeping charged. Must not be big enough to handle the power you are pushing. I would contact Batcap and ask them if this model should be enough to supplement a 1500W RMS system. It is hard to find any meaningful spec on that battery. All they ever give is inflated CCA and CA stats, which we all know are useless. Let us know what you find out.
