Sideways or upside down mounts?

Got this Eclipse ea 4000 amp...was wondering if I can mount it sideways (on a flat verticle wall) or does it have to be mounted flat on the floor?

I know most amps will overheat if mounted upside down, but is that an option for this one? How can you tell?

I've seen some people mount them upside down without much problem as long as they have good ventilation (ie: mounted on roof) Just make sure you get enough airflow and it should cause problems.

i'd say 90* should be fine, but remember heat rises, and if you mount it upside down the heatsink is below the board. this may or may not be a problem. i wouldn't invert it

Good advice. It is going to go into an instatrunk in a Jeep. So maybe I will fab up a drop mount bracket to mount it from the top and drop it down 5-6" or so and flat mount it from there, leaving all of the floor space as cargo room. That way it will still be horizontal, and out of the rain and water that tends to accumulate on the floor!

Thanks for the help all!

i knew someone would catch it!!

no, thats just a piece across the back to mount the amps to, rather than screwing holes into my box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

that should be fine. you just dont want all the heat to go to the board rather than the heatsink.
personally, both of mine are 90*

That looks more like 87 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Are you going to carpet the wood? I think that would make it look a ton better.

from looking at that, do you think i give a shit what it looks like? and 90* refers to the amp's relation to the ground.

i know it's crooked //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

With them upside down the should get plenty of airflow to not cause problems. Edzy doesn't it get a little loud in the front with speakers above your head like that?
