Side Ported or Top Ported for SPL?

I'm in the process of building a box for an XXX 15" ... the total volume is 5.82 cubic feet currently and I'd like to port it. I've got two questions, the first is which side of the box should I port? The side that faces the back of the trunk (in a jeep grand cherokee) or the top of the box facing the ceiling... I'm shooting for SPL. My second question is what frequency should I port the box to for more of an SPL application. I'm working with 3.5 inch diameter ports as well looking to use two of them.

Face the ports whichever way the sub is firing

the sub is firing up... what makes this the best direction to fire them... I'm just tryin to learn something here.
