Side mount post help

Yo, i got a side mount battery post from best buy. I needed to get one cause my battery is side post (DUH) but now i dont know how its installed. The guy told me that u plug it into the battery and then the end of the amp power wire goes between the battery cable and the post. this aint workin cause the battery cable wont screw into the post. Was i supposed to buy a vehicle-specific post or did the guy not know what he was talkin about? if theyre all the same then can someone please tell me how to properly install it? thanks fellas

umm...you put the battery cable's ring terminal in the post, and then screw the post in...like this...

post > cable lug > battery
