Sheesh - This hobby is expensive....

u shoulda done some research before u bought all hifonics equipment. The only hifonics equipmnet i would buy is their amps, they do almost rated power and are cheap. All their other stuff is crap, IMO.
Actually I did alot of research. What I found was that Hifonics' gear in general was worth buying at the prices I got it for. Got the subs for $75 each, the component sets were $99 for both. I figured it a gamble worth taking at the time at those prices. The problem with the one sub wasn't that surprising and the problems I have with the rear component sets is just the solder joints on a couple of components that keep coming loose from the vibration from the subwoofers, nothing too bad. I feel I've gotten my money out of it all and now I'm ready to upgrade. I spent ALOT of that money as well building the infrastructure into the van to handle future upgrades with the HO alty, fully deadening the vehicle and running extra lengths of 1/0 wire. There is alot of money in that stuff as well that saves me from having to spend it later on down the road when the prices are even higher.

And before I get flamed for this one---- I have a component set in the rear as well just because I wanted/needed speakers there that handled the same power as the ones in the front since I'm using a 2 channel amp to drive all four. The coax's didn't handle the same power.

So other than the comments that I shouldn't have messed with the Hifonics crap to start with....... Any other ideas or suggestions? Are the ID CTX's great or is there another set I should look at? Are there any other brands and models of amplifiers or subwoofers I should consider? I'm asking cuz this time around I want to be pretty much the last time around for several years, not just one.

They've got great stuff and the prices are good. I've considered the SAX100.4 and the SAZ-3000D but the JBL's are a little cheaper and I can run the Q's at full power with a little headroom with the GTO14001's.

Why two sets of components in the doors?
For the plain and simple FUN factor I guess. I want the extra SPL of the added sets in the front doors. Although the setup is SQ based I have no intention of competing and therefore aren't that worried about the possible phasing and staging problems inherant in having multiple sets. It should sound PLENTY good enough for me and anyone around here and get loud enough to send the weak running or at least that's what I'm hoping for.
