Shaq traded......

The Suns don't need another runner. They need a big guy who can get some stops and score some buckets in a half court offense so they can finally have some success in the playoffs.
But I'm not totally sure that Shaq is the answer.
By brining in a big guy like Shaq though, that compromises their whole offensive philosophy. While it is true they may need a big man, what they really need is a mobile big man. Shaq will continously be the last one down court and in order for him to work, the Suns will have to slow down the tempo drastically.

He's probably thinking about winning. All this run and gun has got them nothing. I like the idea, but not the player.
Got them nothing? The Suns have the best record in the Western Conference!

They royally screwed up by getting grandpa Shaq.

It's nice winning 60 games and pwning the regular season and all, but they haven't even made it to the finals. Their style simply doesn't work in the playoffs. They've been beaten a couple times by San Antonio who can play defense, and can execute in the half court, something they hope Shaq will help them do. You don't need 5 guys to run the fast break. Shaq could actually help the fast break. If he can alter shots and defensive rebound, he can outlet to Nash to run the break. Running the fast break is about creating missmatches and getting good looks.

Shaq doesn't need to run the floor for them to score on the fast break. They will score on the fast break without him. But it's in the half-court where he is of great use to him...aside from the fact that he's a bit beat up.

People still think run-and-gun, fast break offense wins championships. It wins games, but not playoff series. The fact is you need defense with half court offensive execution and/or a dominant big man in the low post. Look at the recent winners; see a pattern?

Only the Pistons didn't have a dominate big man, but they had dominate interior defense.

I like what Phoenix is trying to do, but don't think Shaq is the right player. He isn't a defensive stopper, and isn't as dominate offensively. Phoenix was undersized up front. Marion is a SF, and Amare is a PF, both of them were playing PF and C. You don't need 5 players to run the fast break, and I don't see Shaq logging the minutes he did in his prime.
You do realize Phoenix was the one to change the way the game has been with them going smaller and using Amare as the center when his natural pos. is a PF and Marion as a PF when he is a SF. This worked for phoenix and made other teams have to figure them out. It was what made them good and yeah they could use a true center, but now they will have to go an entirely different route, cause Shaq will not be able to run with them. The trade don't make sense what-so-ever. Marion was such a perfect fit for them, but he had to cry at the beginning and now he was complaining about not getting enough shots. Whine Mr. Marion, cause now your going to the worst team in the NBA when you had a shot at a championship. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif Sucks, as I liked Marion before this year, but he will say, just as Joe Johnson has seen the past couple years what it is like to play for a loser. Maybe he don't care about winning and just wants the money. I am sure his numbers will go up in Miami, but he will stay in the basement.

I will say, I can't wait to see the next Phoenix game and see how they do. Is one of the teams I watch and have to admit, I think this will hurt them more than help them. Thing is they should have kept Kurt Thomas who fit much better than Shaq. Guy stays healthy for the most part and shoots a lot better than shaq. Hey, whatever.
