Several Car Audio Questions

Hey all, been into car audio for a few years now, and am looking to upgrade.

I currently have a single JL Audio 12" w3 sub rated around 400wrms with a pioneer 2-channel bridged providing about 400wrms. I want to replace this with 2 10s.

I have polk coaxials all the way around inside the car. I want to replace the fronts with some components. I want very clear and NON-DISTORTING at higher volumes than I really care to listen to, and mid-bass would be nice //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif but I'd say clarity and volume are more important since I'll have the 10s for bass.

I'd like to be able to just get a single amp to power the front components and the two 10s (rear speakers can run off HU), but I have read that it can be somewhat difficult to find an amp that is suited for both the components and the subs?

Also, I currently have 4 gauge wire running to my amp. Will that be sufficient if I bump up to a more powerful amp?

This is all going in a '99 Honda Accord Coupe.

Thanks in advance //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Wow, I completely forgot to put a price range! I'd like to keep it at $1,000 or under for amp, wiring, components, subs, and box. I'll buy off ebay if I can to save money, and I'll be doing the installation myself.

well if you liked your polks i would go with polk momo comps im a pretty big fan of them i think they sound pretty good. or you can run the power hungery boston acoustic pros. sub and amp is kind of up to you you have a lot of cash to play around. i guess it kind of comes to waht kind of music you listen to and how you like your bass

Its hard to find a decent 4 channel that will give enough power for two subs. Try to search for a Soundstream VGA500.4. It will do 125W x 4 @ 4 ohms and 500W x 2 @ 4 ohms bridged. Ive been looking for two weeks and still no luck.

Thanks for all the responses so far. I listen to ALL types of music. I have 50s doo-wop and I have 50 cent. My main concern with the subs was I didn't want to go lower quality than the JL I am used to, but I'm pretty sure i can get something just as good if not better for what they charge.

As far as components go...I've only heard the mtx and infinity on display at circuit city. I've heard the perfects' tweeters are harsh, and I don't want that. The mtx...don't really care either way about it. My polks are ok. Better than the pioneers and sonys they replaced.

Overall, clarity and precision is most important with everything.

The phoenix gold xenon x6.5 components seem to be thought pretty highly of, and for the price, it seems like a good deal. Would these give me the clarity and lack of distortion at higher volumes that I'm looking for?
