The motors and softparts of that in the DD are very different compared to that of the AQ. A few of the competitors in Wisconsin have compared them back to back through numerous tests, the results were a consistent 1.3db gain dropping in the DDs. After results like that, why wouldn't you pay the extra money for a recone from Jassa.

Also Mike why the hostility tonight? The guy isn't in Extreme 3-4, so he is not in competition with you.

just because a recone fits doesnt mean that the coil will be aligned properly. I have a MT 18" recone laying around, and it wouldn work too well at all in a Q motor....but it would fit, and shim up just fine,

I will have to get the ID and OD of the coil and length but I assure you for this it will.

Your comparing an MT (triple 220mm slugs) to a Q (two, guessing 180mm slugs). How about the people that have used MT softparts in BTLs and vice-versa. I have never personally done it but have seen several. So lets compare apples to apples and see what the result is.

I've also heard the DD's are a solid 1+ dB's, but I could never find 4 of them cheap enough to do the swap. Had 2 9515g's ready to go, but needed 2 more for a reasonable price...

not getting defensive at all just stating some facts that most people tend to ignore, thats all.

Your right the AQs are a good sub for the money but for anyone who is pushing to get the highest scores possible, one of the easiest ways to gain 1.3+db is to spend the extra money, I was just trying to state that to save people the bad learning experience, that is all.

You might want to compare top plates heights before you make that statement. Spider to coil former joint height.

there was a couple threads about this not too long after the hdc3s were released. several drop in tests were done with different boxes, some put up the same numbers, in some the dd was louder, in some the aq was.
