Serious rattle in Jeep Grand Cherokee.

I know there has been a ton of rattle threads, and I already used the search button and have looked thru tons of different threads.

I have a kicker L7 15" subwoofer, and it rattles my jeep pretty badly.

As far as I can tell the main things that are rattling are the ROOF, and the console on the roof, where my miles per gallon, trip meter, and thermometer are.

Now I am looking into getting some RAAMmat BXT to fix this problem. I am currently trying to figure out how much I am going to need to do this.

Keep in mind, my main concern is STOPPING the rattle in my jeep. I don't care about keeping outside noises out, I just want to stop this rattle, with minimal cost and best effectiveness.

-Do I have to cover my whole roof completely, or just a few different sections will help?

-The hatch is rattling as far as I can tell.. I can't hear it that much when I am in the front seat, but if I fix the roof, then maybe this will start to be more noticeable.

-How do I stop the rattle in my console? I tried tightening the screw to the console as tight as it goes, and it still rattles. If I hold the display screen tight with my fingers it stops the rattle. I am just not sure if I should put stuff inside of the console where the wires are, or if I have to get some sort of liquid.

-About how much am I going to need SQ foot wise for this project? I was thinking buy 1 roll for now and see what that gets me... Will that even be enough for my roof and a few random spots in my SUV? I beleive RAAMmat BXT has 60ish SQ foot rolls.

-Should I get that foam that they sell on the RAAMAUDIO site to also coat the roof, or is that overkill?

Any help is appreciated, I will check back later =) Thanks!

if your going second skin also look into the rattle pad, the would work sandwiched between the console and roof, possibly use the spare on other sections on the headliner and on your rear hatch.

Get about 40 sq feet and cover the roof your rear hatch, youll most likely have some left over and you will probly find some more rattle you will want to take care of, or if not mail me the extra

OK I am going to buy the 62 sq foot roll of RAAMmat BXT.

Single layer on the roof and hatch? As well as some of the foam that they sell for $10 a yard or something. How much foam should I buy? How important is that and where should it go first off?

did an install in a jeep once. just dynomat everything. or just dont worry about it and put the money into your system.

my mileage console just fell almost all the way off just the other day. and if you talking cost effective go to lowes and pickup a roll of peel and seal for 15 dollars.that should take care of it

Peel and seal is ok for floors and shit but dont think about it for the roof esp if it gets hot it starts to melt. Spend money on a quality product, if you budgeted get raammatt it does a good job and will work for your application

worked well in my escort. actually the dynamat ended up coming off the roof. i think regardless of what you use it just to much heat on the roof in the summer.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

if your talking about original dynamat then say that shit sucked, but hey if it worked for you then awesome but i also live in texas, so inside the car can be 130+ in the summers

It sounds to me that you need to find the source of the most annoying rattles and tackle them one by one. Using a deading product isn't going to fix all rattles. On things like glove boxes and storage compartments where the doors are rattling, try using some thin weather strip or those little rubber or felt pads. Depending on your situation, you should be able to find something like this that will stop the rattles.

yeah i bet it gets hot there in michigan not so very much. but yeah i just sayin for the money the peel seal aint bad. he did say he was just lookin to stop the rattle not completely deaden his jeep. so on a conservitive note it is only 15 bucks a roll and no more rattle. pretty cost effective if you ask me. and he could do the back hatch door.

Thanks for the tips. It is def the roof that rattles the most, as far as I can tell, and it's wierd I can't heard the hatch rattle until I get outside of the jeep..
