Sept. 11

Then why don't we all show respect every second of the day, every day, for our whole lives? We should only show respect to peoples' deaths if they happened in our country? Large groups of people die on a daily basis all over the world. The only time us Americans seem to care is when those horrible terrorists killed those amazing people working in the world trade center.

I'm not trying to say that 9/11 wasn't tragic, and that we shouldn't show respect for the people who died. I'm just saying that the United States has been milking(yes, milking) it for the past ten years as the worst possible thing to happen to us when in reality, worse happens on a daily basis. We don't need to keep 9/11 in our hearts. We need to keep the understanding that there is injustice and hatred in the world that needs to be stopped.

You just don't get it.

How did you arrive to that conclusion from what I said?
Easily. You said I don't get "it". What did you mean by "it"? Camaraderie? I get that many people died on 9/11, and that they shouldn't have died. I don't get why Americans have since felt the need to band together against the threat that is terrorism when terrorism has been going on everywhere(including here) for 20+ years. There have been billions of deaths in the past few decades from evil, corrupt men, but we only care about the few hundred that died on 9/11?

As I said, I don't see why American lives are the only lives that we have to care about. Pearl Harbor matters more than Hiroshima, 9/11 matters more than the ten year war we've been in since it, etc., etc.
