Seems like i got a ground issue....but wtf

So, you grounded the RCA shields to another ground? I have/had an alt whine, and I grounded the RCAs and that fixed it... but, I mean, if it's happening in both maybe it's a conspiracy that Eclipse HUs despise Explorers?

I don't know what to tell you. Bad alt?

nope, no bad alt. but even if it was a bad alt, i still get static with the car off. so alt isnt even turning and i get static //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

as for the RCA comment, yes, i tried to ground the RCA to the chassis of the HU, then i tried to just ground it straight to my ground wire, and then i tried both, and still hissing each time. i also tried groundig the rca's at the amp inputs.

double post i should read whole thing first

got an extra cheapie unit sittin around try switchin the h/u out??
i swapped out to my buddies eclipse cd3100. we tried both units in both cars and got static in both. but when i put my cd5000 in his explorer i did notice that he didnt have static through his subwoofer in his car while i did in mine.

I would try a different brand HU, buy one from walmart and return it with the receipt after testing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/satan.gif.9c6a335ed7aeeed3ee273e573f1fcaac.gif

Well someone helped me out with mine a week ago, so it's my duty to help you with yours.

Answer these Q's for me.

1.) Are any amps involved or are the speakers run straight to the HU?

2.) If the speakers are run straight to the deck, are you using aftermarket wiring or did you use the stock wiring?

3.) Are there any passive crossovers being used in the network?

4.) What type of RCA's (brand) are you trying?

1) the cd5000 is wired up to an RF amp (in sig) to some BA pro's up front, the rear channels are wired up to the stock rear speakers. hissing comes from both the front and the rear speakers

2) everything on the HU is ran to the battery except for 3 things. 1 is the accessory wire, the other 2 are the left and right rear speakers. even disconnecting everything and running the accessory straight to the battery, i got hissing.

3) there are 2 passive crossovers being used, for the BA pro 60's

4) currently i have knukoncepts klarity cables that are ran in the actual car. the other 2 RCA brands i used when i went over the seats instead, were the scoche walmart ones, and some Monster cable RCA's i bought a long time ago

Well shit, no ideas from me man... Maybe trying ungrounding everything that is going straight to the battery and ground it at the chassis... Weirder things have worked to fix shit...

I just got BA PRO60's 2 weeks ago and I don't really like them that much. I'm running mine off a ZX850.2 and the gains are set with a DMM so there's no clipping going on, but I'm just not getting that much midbass output from them, but the tweets get LOUD AS HELL with no problem at all, even at -4 dB on the passives. How do you like yours?

This is what i was gonna suggest. It seems you've tried nearly every other option. I would just try chassis grounds just for the hell of it. It cant hurt right?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

The only other thing it could be is the Ipod adapter itself. have you tried another adapter and see if you have the same noise?

uberaudio and casper: the hissing happens with the ipod adapter hooked up or completely unhooked //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif. the ipod itself is the culprit of the ipod noise ( i know it since me and my buddy swapped ipods on each others eclipses with the same adapter [only one i know of to be honest] and my ipod made the weird noises in his car while his didnt, even in my car. i think its because its beat up as **** lol). the hissing however is not the ipod.

lostdaytomorrow: things actually were grounded to the chassis before i made the 1/0 run straight to the battery. the hissing was still there (i guess i just didnt notice it as much since i always had subs pounding away, but i knew it was there). the original intent of the 1/0 run was to solve the subwoofer static i had, which of course didnt help.

btw...i havent heard any alternator whine today or yesterday //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif. hissing is still there however.

another thing i have tried. i read a TSB bulletin for the ford explorers and how the fuel pump would cause static in CB radios. so this morning i pulled the fuel pump relay as well as its fuse....no dice. noise still continued. im about at wits end

edit: i think im gonna remove the unit, wiring and battery, and try it out inside my house. if it doesnt make noise inside my house i will flip a ***** //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Good idea man. Hope it works for ya.

You have any opinion on the PRO60's?
