I blended up a nice sized lab batch of our new enclosure caoting product and got it in the hands of a few people for testing.

The product is pretty much ready to go, but I need to make a couple slight changes to help with minor mud cracking.

It is a water based acrylic loaded with 30 mesh bubber bit for a bed liner type look. An alterntive to carpet that can be brushed or sprayed.

Here are his pics:

Any acoustic benefits?
It is an acrylic resin loaded with rubber and filler, so it will have some vibration damping properties.

Not as much as our Spectrum and Sludge vibration dampers, but it will help deaden the vibrations on the wood. Not sure how much that will help though..

sounds good, I would like to try some out for my next build and compare it to bedliner that I've used in the past
We have some single gallon pails ready to go right now.

Give me a call on Monday and I'll get you set up.

I will be leaving out of town on Tuesday and won't be back for a week.

Orders will still be shipping but since this product is not up on the site yet, you will have to call me to get it

Oh please tell me you aren't thinking about getting into the enclosure damping industry. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Shit, nevermind. I'll help to make things clear, it wont make any noticeable difference to enclosure damping at all. None. Please dont act like there might even be a chance. Coating the enclosure with this stuff will only alter aesthetics. And possibly sealing tolerances, if you are a lousy enclosure builder. I wont even go into how miniscule such a small addition of mass would do to enclosure dynamics, or that simply bracing the box would do vastly more. You now know Anthony, so you can no longer suggest it *might* help performance based on your lack of knowledge on the subject.
Honestly, it looks like rubberized undercoating to me. Which does come in different colors if you find the right manufacturer. Even your description of its material composition sounds like rubberized undercoating. So i guess the obvious question is, is it simply rubberized undercoating Anthony?

It'll be silly to use that to "dampen" an enclosure. If you need to dampen an enclosure, it means you didn't build it right.
Not to mention, an enclosure is simply meant to have its resonant frequency outside the bandwidth it will need to reproduce. For subwoofer enclosures, this means either lowering it below 20hz (think.... concrete enclosure) or raise it above 120hz or so. Since the vast majority of mobile audio enthusiasts raise RF above usable bandwidth by stiffening the structure with bracing, rather than simply making it heavy as all hell, suggesting your enclosure *needs* more mass is silly. MDF is not used for its mass, its used for its density to rigidity ratio. Again, this is nothing more than an aesthetic product, and imho one that looks like simple undercoating sold at most auto parts stores. Sorry Ant, but this product is a dud imo.
