Second Alt really made a diff.

I just wanted to mention that I added a second 250amp D.R. alt. and am very pleased with the added voltage support. My system will now hold 14v @ 12-1500rpm when I beat on it kinda hard. Soon I will build a diff alt bracket to hold 2 alts where I put my second one. I used the spot where the factory a/c pump mounted, this is on a late 90's 5.7 Chevy Vortec. When I do the next bracket I will be running 3 high amp alts all together. So if you are running a fairly large system deff consider extra Alts over batts if possible because that was the biggest gain I noticed over batts.

Russ
i really want to but i have absoulutly no room for 2 alts.

The subs amp is a Lanzar Opti12001d its the amp in my avatar and the highs amp is a Lanzar Opti250x4 subs are x 4 15" DBDrive PLT15WD D2 2500RMS amp sees .5ohm per side. Sorry I didnt realize you were looking to know what equipment I have. Russ

Yes, that was thoroughly obvious. What was apparently not obvious was the intent of my question. Which was what subs and mids and highs you use and what and how many amps and what not.

Ok so I've had some people ask me if I have put a dmm on my batts to verify voltage with second alt. I have not actually done this yet.So tomorrow I will be at a audio comp so this will be a good time to take a reading with the dmm to see where it drops to. I will video this and document it. If your wondering, its a toys for tots comp, 1X DB Drag in Elida Ohio put on by Wicked Kustoms, if your near there try to attend as it's for a good cause. Russ

Man thats pretty cool.I have a 98 3dr silverado.Yet, wantint to add a second alt, but do not want to loose my ac due to the SOB Texas Heat waves.I believe there is a bracket made to add the second alt, that I will be looking into from AlterStarts of Dallas,Tx.I should be able to keep my AC compressor, and add the second alt with bracket, and changing the belt out, was what was told to me.Yet, you are needing a total of 3.So, Ac choice is/will be obsolete.:crap:I am hoping to maintain the 14.6 or better, as the 255amp alt in the stock location worked just fine, and only drew down to 14.1v at 2ooo watts rms on 4 heavy tens, would like to stay at 14.4 or better

2 alts will deff help with that. Russ
