Sealing up doors

I have my doors deadened with one layer on both the inner and outer door skin. Should I apply another layer? And what should I use to seal up that big hole in the middle of the door? The other two smaller holes cant be sealed due to wires passing through them.

Id use sheet metal to cover the holes. If wires need to pass thru.... just cut a notch for them.

yea, def. seal up the big holes, just use some thin wood perhaps 1/4" MDF. Or perhaps some mesh wire

How would I get the MDF attached to the door? And wouldn't MDF be a little heavy on the door?

I use aluminum roof flashing found at home depot or lowes. Use two sheets with deadener in between them.

cardboard works fine.. had mine in for 6 months and haven't seen any problems its still fresh

dont use cardboard, go to HD or lowes and get steel mesh 1/8" its just like the stuff they use for screen doors, screw that in and deaden over it

Something tells me 'no.' I mean, I'd think it depends on what you put outside, how you attach it, and all of that. If you put deadener (one or two layers, preferably two) and caulk it on... I don't think they'll be much of a problem.

I haven't done it yet, but I think I'm gunna go with 1/4 MDF and caulk the sh!t out of it and put some deadener on it.

I don't want to use a material that I will have to screw it into place. I want something that I can attach using caulking.

couple layers of roof flashing, and you are golden. plus its easy to cut

My doors are rock solid with the cardboard, its sandwiched in there to separate the front and rear waves and add durability and thats exactly what it does.

Cardboard does seem like a good choice, But would it have the same effects as MDF or Plexiglass?

i belive mdf or plexi is better due to the fact that they dont flex as much. i dont see how cardboard will help unless theres an insane amount of deadener.
