sealed volume pros+cons

i know that looks retarded but w/e it hadnt been working

ok so i searched for this topic but i couldnt find any usefull info except that the bigger sealed box you have the less power the woofer can take? that true

im asking cuz im looking to buy a 10" L7 and i dunno what size to put it in (.66 to 1.00 recc.)cuz i was thinking 1.00 but not sure

thanks guys

tell me if i have this right

the smaller the box the tighter the bass and better sq

the larger the box the deepr and and higher spl

in a nutshell?

if you go too big on the sealed or vented enclosure your sub will pretty much be in a free air environment or infinite baffle, thus lowering the power rating on that sub. use software like winISD to help you choose between different enclosure stiles, sizes, tuning freqs ...etc plus its faster and very accurate.

Nope, not at all really...LOL

Smaller box; higher peak output, worse transient response and peak in the frequency response in upper bass/lower midbass (basically; worse SQ), higher mechanical power handling (less efficiency) and less low frequency extension. Will have the perception of being "tight" or "punchy" because of the increased output in the upper bass/lower midbass region.

Larger box: less output, better low frequency extension, better transient response and flatter frequency response (better SQ), lower mechanical power handling.
