Does the position of the port on the box effect the sound at all. I would imagine no but i was just checkin. Like between these two

The reason i ask this also is because i will be puttin a box like one of these in a trunk (itll be a long time from now) On the first one the port would be open to alot more space wheras the second one would be more closed off (due to the side of the trunk)

There is no way to determin how the port location will react to the acoustics of your car. As long as the port isn't blocked you will more than likely not beable to tell the volume and sound difference with your ears.

That is Assuming that both boxes are the same volume and tuned the same..

wow i just quoted myself.

eh. its better to have the port to be firing in the same direction of the sub IMO. if you are facing it rearward anyways.

sorry i didnt want to make a new thread about this so i will just borrow yours, due to a brace in my trunk i am unable to port a box in the front would there be any affect if i were to have the port facing the opposite direction of the sub ie. sub facing tails, port facing back seat as long as i leave enough room between back seat and box for air to flow?

It depends on what car it's in. For my van, there's a definite, noticeable difference whether the port is firing backwards towards the rear doors or firing through the cabin.

At home, it makes a difference as well - rear firing bass reflex boxes tend to have better, more uniform imaging and better midrange dispersion.

it would be in the trunk of a 98 ford taurus if that would make a difference, i guess all i can do is try it as long as its not really noticable its fine with me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
