Sealed trunks Pics Needed..

i will be sealing my trunk pretty soon. though i'm going ported thru the 6.5 speaker openings from the rear deck and having my 15" facing the cabin.

i will have a build log. i am considering on taking this route(if you can follow and understand)

1. building my box

2. fiberglassing a "beauty panel" that will go from the speaker, outwards to to cover all open areas between the trunk wall and the seats.

3. behind the fiberglassed beauty panel i want ti fill the surrounding area of the enclosure with polyfill.

4. fiberglass or use MDF for another panel to sandwhich the polyfill in place.

with that i hope to seal off cabin from the trunk. almost all the holes in my rear deck have been sealed up by sound deadening so i should be good in that area, though i do plan on getting some more so i can seal up anymore holes between the front beauty panel and the and the trunk.

Ya thats a good way but I really dont want to fiberglass since this is just a temp little setup I'm doing. but you doin aeros throw the 6.5 openings? Im tempted to try that as well haha..
depending on the way the box is. i am planning on doing two 4" aeros to make it "even" but that would require a really wide box due to the openings starting from 23" apart + two 4" ports + another 2-3"s for enclosure build. i can do it but it will make my box air space more than i need. even though i can modify other areas as reducing the depth but i really want to give the rear of the sub some clearance space. i dono i'll figure this out somehow lol.

Hmm, so in this application the trunk is actualy being used as the box. Wouldn't this count as infinite baffle?

Wasn't aware you could port an IB design. Quite new to this stuff though.

i don't think you are seeing it. i believe he is trying to seal his enclosure FROM the trunk. basically, build a box, face it forward to the cabin, then seal off the trunk so that all output of the speaker is directed into the cabin and not allowing any(or very minimal) air pressure into the trunk. basically separating the 2 areas from each other. as for the porting, it's using your standard ported box, just all going into the cabin.

initially what you are thinking of IS IB.
