Sealed Subwoofer Recommendations? 500Rms. Any up and coming companies?

Hi Guys,

Been 8ish years since I've posted. But, I'm looking for a setup. Last I was here Fi audio, DD, and Sundown were kings of the subwoofer world...anything changed?

What I'm looking for:
  • I'm wanting to do a sealed enclosure...have .75-1.25ft^3 to work with
  • Want to be easy on me old electrical system - thinking the 500rms range
  • Must be a 12" or less (can accommodate a reasonable depth)
Thanks in advance!

Rockford Fosgate or JL Audio are top sub brands as far as I know. As for specific models, you would have to look them up since I'm not sure what your budget is and not too familiar with box measurements. Currently own 2 jl audio 10tw3-d4 (shallow sub w/ 400W RMS but being fed 500W) and they slam hard and their 12 inch versions also take the same power rating I think. Regular sub recommendations would be jl 12W3v3 but really depends on your tastes and budget.

lol RF a Top brand now. Not anymore not since they went all mainstream into Best Buy. Are their amplifiers still legit, yes but their subwoofers...No I got one sitting here in a P3 and I wouldn't use it if I had to.

Agree with Jeff here, all of those are nice subwoofers. Even the ones he listed as ported are nice as well but they are better suited for said ported application.

Audiofrog GB would be my choice. Good for stock electrical setups efficency/RMS wise. Amazing SQ and they do well in sealed setups

There expensive but then again those brands you listed (Fi and DD) aren't exactly cheap either

Dayton. I'm using the LS10-44 with a Pioneer 600 RMS amp and highly recommend it.
I have a 12" Dayton HF sub and 500 watt plate amp at home.
I have a 12" Dayton HO sub and 1000 watt plate amp at home.
I have a 15" Dayton HO sub and 800 watt sub amp at home.

I strongly recommend the Dayton line for sound quality over thump ability.

They are a budget subwoofer and yes they are a nice subwoofer for the money no doubt. Never said they were not a nice subwoofer. Pop said the same thing best budget sealed subwoofers

Put a laugh emoji on my post all you want Squirrel. They are a budget subwoofer and yes they are a nice subwoofer for the money no doubt. Never said they were not a nice subwoofer. Pop said the same thing best budget sealed subwoofers

Touchy much? Gee, I thought we were adults here? I got a chuckle so I used a laugh emoji. No worries. I took care of it for you. As for being nice, yes, they are VERY nice. Budget? LOL, sure, there are more expensive out there. There is of everything. Apparently, you have so much money as to have the misguided belief that what has been mentioned is budget. While Dayton does indeed have honest budget sub drivers, these are a few steps above that line. Are they high end? No, not even close. But they are remarkable enough that I stopped my sub search. I bought a Pioneer subwoofer for 79 that had impressive specs. But it was a budget sub and sounded like a budget sub. The Daytons do NOT sound like a budget sub. And they are priced to reflect that fact.

So, sorry to have triggered you, LMAO, no I'm not. Just shows me another facet about your personality. Hope you have a happy thanksgiving.

lol no I was in a bad mood earlier is all no big deal. Someone pissed me off to say the least as it has been a horrible 5 days. Just overreacted a little bit as today just kept on getting worse is all.

No problem. The Dayton ultimax is one of the better sounding sealed subs I’ve heard. I kinda want to try the 18 in my ride.
