Sealed setup..

I have a 97 Nissan 240sx. I don't want to sacrifice all of my trunk area (small as it is) so I plan on a sealed setup.

dimensions I came up with are these 2;

14(H) x 14(W) x 14 (D) = 1.3 cu.

14(H) x 14(W) x 20 (D) = 1.9 cu.

Correct my measurements if I am wrong.

I listen mainly to hip hop and some new rap. I am open to a variety of music genres so the more compatibility the better.

The goal is more toward SQ then SPL. I would like good amount of output but not at the sacrifice of SQ.

I would like to run at minimum 750w possibly a kicker 750.1 amp, though I would push more only if it is necessary.

I am looking into:

SI MAG 12" w/ the Sundown SAE-1000D combo.

ID MAX 12" Amp is to be decided, 750.1 maybe.

RE SE 12" Amp is to be decided, 750.1 maybe.

Your opinions are welcomed. I plan on purchasing no later then the end of this month.

Only one opinion? wow!

Do my choices look ideal?

A local shop tried pushing me to purchase a memphis PR 12" with a memphis 500w amp. for around 1030 installed. A bit too much I say.

The different sub options you're looking at are all going to be pretty good performers in a sealed box. They should all be able to get pretty loud and have nice extension in the lower octaves. I think it will really come down to what fits your budget the best and which combo you like the best.

save your money and install yourself. Not too tough at all to do an amp and sub
I plan too, I did with my last setup in my old car. That was just a shop trying for me to buy into their sale.

I am looking into the SI Mag, Sundown 1000 combo. still doing some more research.

Thanks fellas.

I plan on taking a listen to the RE SE tomorrow, I luckily found a new dealer located about 10mi. away from me.

How do these sound ported? will I sacrifice SQ by much, Will there be that much difference in output?

Thanks again fellas.

-Andrew

I currently have my 12" Se ported, but I had it sealed before making the switch.

If you have the power I would go sealed....I'm talking 900 or so. If not, ported is the way to go. It slams like a mofo off of the same power ported.....makes me dizzy sometimes.

They both will sound excellent.

Well, if you want SQ the Mag is a very good choice, especially since you only have a limited volume. The new Mags get fairly loud, but they sound amazing. The Mag and SAE-1000D combo is absolutely amazing, it is exactly what I have. If you would prefer to be louder the Fi Q or the AA Havoc will probably be louder, but the SQ will not be as good.

The havoc looks nice, Though I want to stay around 750-1000w.

I do want output, I do know I do not want to sacrifice much SQ.

I say $250 is about right when it comes to price point on a sub for me.
