SE vs. Tempest

i've never heard either, other than opinions i hear on here about them. this is a little off topic but i have a quick question, instead of startin a new thread, how do the SE's sound in a small sealed box? under 1^3, truck box specifically.

I am also very curious about this subject. I have a 600 watts (underrated) @ 2 ohms amp and I want to build an spl box and get a 15" sub for comps. I am in an SUV and am curious which would be louder. I have had great experiences with my fiance's Re 8's and would love to try another one of RE's products. Keep going.
Dude if you want a 15" for comps don't even bother with the Temptest there are LOTS of other subs that will put the Temptest in its grave for SPL. Most people buy it for SQ with a little bit of L. Unless they buy a few of them. Get a used DD sub, or SE would get louder even.

You could put a pair of RE8's in a nice truck box and they would sound excellent. But the SE's would be deprived of output.

Unless you want to go extreme like Marshall ...

Thanks for the advice. THe biggest issue is that I only have 600-650 watts and I would like to hit as amny db's as possible. I will build the box to what i need but I want to compete in low power classes.

Hmmm ... let me bring this back for a sec ...

Say I had 7.5-7.8ish cubes ... would you change your mind, or stick with what you originally thought ?
