I've had both, and liked the SE plenty more.

Your comparing a SQ driver to a SPl driver though.

How about something more to the height of a l7, like a SX though?

I do kind of agree with the sloppy sound of the kickers compared to other subs I've ran. Not quite as much SQ as I want in a 12" sub but they do get pretty loud.

so do these L7's get low? i mean im going from a sq geared 18 in. to a 15 inch L7, will i be able to notice much difference when it comes to hitting the really low notes?

Strange that 99% compares the L7 to another ROUND sub, but NEVER considers the CVX....just odd imo.

I've owned an SE, SX, and L7.

Here's how I would break them down.

SE=lower power applications, good sound. Not very loud though

SX=little more power, upwards of 1kw, better SPL

L7=midrange power in a daily driver application, more cone area than its round counterpart, should get just as loud, if not louder, than the SX.

I particularly didn't care for my SX. I think I used it a grand total of 2 hours. It got its *** handed to it by the type-r and pretty much every other sub I've ran since then, including the L7.

For spl tones yes the L7, overall happiness SE - sounds better, gets lower, more efficient, looks better.

Way to make a lot of generalizations there buddy.

Have you even owned any of the subs we are discussing? Because I've owned all 3......
