SDS vs. Dynamat ?s

So, first off, I'm new here. Hi. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

I drive an 02 Focus hatch. Total base model- 5 speed, manual windows and doors, etc. It's ungodly loud inside this thing. When I started thinking about doing audio upgrades (Kenwood HU, Boston SX85 fronts, Infinity Basslink) I knew I would need to do some sound and vibration deadening. I didn't know it would be this complicated, though.

Anybody got any opinions on the products sold at Sound Deadener Showdown? The guy seems like he knows his stuff and his prices are reasonable. I was planning to use Thermwell type stuff and some Polyfil, but what I read on the SDS website made me change my mind. Now I'm def thinking about getting some of his products. Is it worth the money? Anybody ever used this, and how well does it work compared to Dynamat or the 'cheap stuff'? Thanks!

So, another hour or two of research has made me decide to probably go with some mass loaded vinyl in addition to Showdown's CLD Tiles. I can get 64 square feet of 1/8th inch MLV weighing 1 lb a foot for 95 bucks shipped so I'm going with that. I measured my car earlier and came up with about 40 sq feet minimally that I wanted to cover, so this should allow me to double up in some places (***** tunnel, front floorboards towards the engine bay, hatch) and do the doors. and maybe some areas I wasn't even planning on. I'm pretty excited about this project now. Am I missing anything?

Glad to see you went with SDS, I did on my last project and had great results.

Don is an excellent guy to deal with. He'll take you through the entire process and tell you what you really need and even how to go about applying it. What you already have picked out seems good, but I would go ahead and run it by him if you can to see what he says. BTW that butyl rope is AWESOME

Be sure to post up some pics of the build

EDIT: My bad on the name....it's late

Dynamat And SDS?

SDS every single time in any single situation.

Dynamat is a great product but SDS CLD Tiles blow it away.

Foil is twice as thick

Adhesive is 30% thicker

Dynamat extreme has one of the best adhesives in the industry, but the thicker foil of the tiles will do a much better job for damping vibrations.
