Didn't follow the rule to measure twice and cut once I guess. I bought two RE SE-12's and wouldn't you know it they will not fit my box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif The box I picked up for them fits under my rear seat in my Z-71 Extended but it was set up for 10's. I measured the front face and had enough so I started cutting.... got the 11.125" hole I needed to slide the subs in but they hit on another piece inside where it necks down to slide under the seat. Because the baskets are 3" deep it hits about 1" or so in leaving 2" hanging out on the top-side. I suppose it would be crazy or damage the sub to cut two of the metal basket pieces to get it to clear //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif so I am screwed. I guess when RE says it takes an 11.125" hole that is to clear the basket and I didn't foresee the ledge that hung me up.

Where it tapers down about 1" in to 8.5" I need something to clear that! I am looking for a SQ sub that will get loud too and fit (maybe a small basket?). If I have to go 10's rather than 12's then so be it. I have a Kicker KX1200.1 that will be driving the subs (just bought it), so they have to take 600-700 RMS. Any suggestions so I can get this done over the break would be great. Now I have to cut a new front face board //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

Here are the pics of my box. You can see the piece inside where it steps down... that is where the problem is. I took a picture of how far it would have to be spaced which to be safe is 1 1/2". That opening between the step and edge gives me 8 1/2" which a RE SE-10" won't even fit. Now if I could cut those two metal pieces on the basket it would be cake but would the sub get ruined then?

I didn't try rotating them but don't think it would matter since they are uniform spacing. Having 1 1/2" more sticking out may look a little crazy though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif Would I still make the hole in the front face 11.125"?

thats how i built my box. eventually i hope to fiberglass the gap to make it look better, but its not bad how it is. if you can fiber glass id suggest making 3 rings, 2 under, and one to flush mount it. i did one ring under and one around it to flush mount, and i plan on covering across the top ring and over the sub with grill cloth, and fiberglassing in the part that sticks out.

if i was finished id show you a pic, but like every other project i start it may be a while.

I was hoping they might go down A LITTLE farther if you rotated them so the spokes were off the vertical a little.

Yeah, I'd make the rings tight to the inside measurement, mine were a little less than 11.125, and as large as the gasket is. If they're done nice and smooth and painted well, it could look real sharp.

So they couldn't be carpeted over?

If I don't go this route what would fit in there that is kick-*** and will work with the 1200.1?

sure they could. It's just they'd look cool stickin' up gloss black or something.

Find a 4 spoke basket...I forget what it's called. I think SoundSplinter uses it. MUCH more room between spokes. http://www.soundsplinter.com/ that's what they look like.
