that's a problem that can be taken care by the sponsors. I find that too many of these events are just concerned about making money and not making sure certain things are taken care of. ever notice how events like this have gotten larger but still don't pay the PD to do detail at the event and don't get sponsors to participate in the event. getting those two groups involved would allow ppl going to these events to have a better time and cut back on some of the cost of just attending. i've been to other events that have these groups involved and have a way better time and don't get harassed by 5.0

preach it brother. parking + admission + food/drinks + anything else you might want to do = a lot of ****** dough. any idea what the numbers are this year? i may not waste my gas...

a lot of the ppl that I know went last year are not going this year b/c there wallets got raped. too much money is trying to be made in cash and not by sponsorships. don't understand why an event like this tries to make all the money through cash, if they don't want to report the income just learn how to report it correctly. a friend of mine paid $80 just walking in, parking+admission for him, his woman and kid. dude was out $140 by lunch time than he still had dinner and hotel stay to pay for. he spent close to $500 for just 2 days. there's money to be made by everyone just that too many ppl get greedy and want it all for themselves. if the PD makes their cut on detail they wouldn't harass everyone driving on the coast, get local businesses (food joints) to pay for banners at the event so ppl know places to go eat, have an after party at one of the casino's with a banner (casino will wave the pimp hand at the PD to make sure they have ppl at that event and not broke or in jail), guest DJ for after party (DJs bring ppl to after party), casino's make money by just having ppl in there (either drinks, food, or gambling).

sounds like i'll be scrapin the Mobile, AL coast then lol. i didnt realize thats how it was. i've never been down there for it. i just saw it on facebook today.

What your not thinking if is the DJ costs money, the venue costs money, insurance for venue costs money, advertisement for the show costs money. Everything about or around a show costs a good amount of money. I'm not saying I agree with the higher gate fees and such, but everything about a show has had a cost increase. This is why shows die off all the time.

AQ and DD will be there. I will not be there.

i think i'll just have an after party at the Beau next year and make money off of them to prove my point. i'd like to have DJ Trashy and DJ Johnny Cage do the after party, they have a good following from Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

i know all the cost associated with having a show, just I only see a couple decent sized companies in the sponsors section for this event

Scrapin The Coast | 2011

I see no drink sponsor like Coke or Pepsi. no energy drink company like Red Bull, Monster, or Amp. only 1 product sponsor, kinetik. so many other product sponsors would jump into this, I'm sure that DD and AQ were not asked. Rockford, Alpine, and Kicker are always looking for shows like this to further increase their name brand. Mobile One (semi-big box here in NOLA) wasn't asked about participation, they have customer with all Rockford setup (6 15s, 3 comps sets in each door, 6 amps, all in a walled Expedition), they brought down Alpine center drive civic and sinister 6 down last import show in NOLA. Bud Light is the only alcohol sponsor, no Daiquiri sponsors (it's hot, why not). No Tire sponsor, Falken and Hankook love sponsoring events like this.

after party cost is usually around $3-4. $1-2k for location to charge cover, $1-1.5 for DJs for 6 hrs (3hrs each), $500-1k miscellaneous. Location gets free promo and foot traffic. casino may be in contract with Taaka or Smirnoff, they would usually offer discount to casino for drink specials or promo funds. depending on casino policy you'd normally get 10-15% of alcohol sales plus cover charge.

Yes, but the cost was higher then it should be for a single show, so it was declined. Both companies are both paid sponsors of heatwave, but after that the budget for shows is fairly low. Only other show they will be at other then maybe smaller shows will be sema, but that is it.
