So, I have been wanting to try some Scotch for a while now but haven't gotten around to it. So, what I want to know is if you guys like it and if so what kinds you would recommend that are reasonably priced. Also, how is it supposed to be consumed? Usually I see it on the rocks, is that how it is supposed to be? Anyway, all info is appreciated.

on the rocks. let the ice water down and should be nicely drinkable.

i do the same with johnny walker, on the rock, and let the ice water it down some. easy to go down.

Yea, Johnnie Walker seems to be one of the most popular, I am considering buying some of it, probably black label.

Exactly, either that or pour a shot or so worth of water in with a glass, It helps to bring out the flavor. Johnny Walker black is actually my second favorite drink behind Makers Mark (bourbon)

yeah makers mark is the shit too, it dont got nothin on JW blue but its not NEARLY as expensive.

The only scotch I ever drink nowadays in Johnnie Walker Blue Label.

On the rocks after letting the ice melt down a bit.

Blech, to be honest, I can't stand them anymore.

But for so long, I drank red and black, and thoroughly enjoyed them.

It's like night and day when comparing.

OP: just get some red or black label.

12 year Glenlivet would be good to get your feet wet...no point buying a $200 Blue or Macallan's if you don't know you're going to like it. Spend $40-60 at first.

I've been a fan of Glenmorangie and Laphroaig lately, but it's different than a highland malt.
