my buddy has a Scion tC. can anyone recommend some speakers to put in there? I think he should get components up front and coax in the back. he doesn't want to spend a lot of money, and he is lookng for speakers with some bass since he isn't going to add a sub. he doesn't have an amp yet, but he isn't looking to spend a lot of $$$ the speaker sizes are 5 1/4 in the front and 5 1/4 or 6 1/2 in the back. i would say under or around $300 for all 4 (if possible). what do you guys got?

If he's going to run them off a stock HU I'd advise him to save more money and get a set of Focal PolyKevlars (or polyglass) on ebay then amp them, in fact he might be able to swing that for under $300. Get an old audio art or PPI Art series amp to run them... around 100x2

or grab a US Amps from Flakko for the amp, grab the amp install kit from wally world and only come up a little over budget. If he whines about the little extra cash slap him and tell him to quit being a nancy boy.

I wouldn't think there would be much bass from component speakers cause you can't set the crossovers too low. He should just get a small 6.5 or 8 inch sub and run it off a multi channel wit the components.. if he spends a bit more he'd probably be a lot happier

I have a tC and I think the speakers up front are 6.5s. If not, I know that a baffle can be made for 6.5s to fit up their.

And I know for a fact that the rear panels can fit 6.5s. And if you want some bass with the 6.5s, the best I can tell you is to go with is this package for the rears for the bass and save up more for some nice comps up front.

how do those eD speakers sound? are they just bass? i mean he isn't a bassaholic or anything. i looked at those small eD's and they just look like baby subs to me.

They aren't just bass, they can get pretty high.

I think right now, he should just spend some money on upgraded coaxials like something from the Pioneer Rev series and run those off the H/U.

Then if he still isn't satisfied, save up and upgrade with an amp and component set.

IIRC the Tc is 6.5 all around or atleast thats what one of my customers bought. I would get a set of components and a USAmp. I can help with the components and flakko has the IS-2080 going for 125$. Then for the rear fill I have some coaxs and midrange woofers that would work.
