i don't know, man, i had one in my 01 jetta, and one in my 91 gti, and it made a great improvement in both.
i don't know what kind of car you drive, but if you don't drive something that already has a notchy, tight shift mechanism, it makes an awesome improvement.
30% reduction in throw isn't a huge deal if you already have a 3 inch throw, or something ridiculous, but if you have a huge truck-like throw of 5-6 inches like a lot of economy cars, it's a HUGE HUGE difference.
Also, the shifter is weighted very nicely, and your shifts feel much more solid, and it gives you nice notchy engagement feedback, so your shifts are solid every time.
Modifying a car is very much a 'hierarchy of needs' where you need solid tactical feedback in everything you physically manipulate while driving to be as good and responsive as possible. a $3000 brake setup, and $1000's in transmission and engine upgrades wont do you any good unless you get good feedback, and are comfortable while controlling them.
