881, 3.5 RSX, or 791XV And i got a couple ?'s

First off,

i have a 94 camry xle right now, with a 8 year old aftermarket alarm that i dont no what brand it is. I been thinking about getting a new alarm since i just bought 2000 worth of car audio stuff and my siren isn't working now. I have a Couple ?'s,

1. Out of all 3 models which one should i get. All 3 are like 189.99, or 199.99 on the internet which brings me to my 2nd ?

2. Do most local shops charge a butt load of cash for high end alarms? How much would it cost me to have 1 of the alarms bought and installed at a shop?

3. Can most shops install an alarm that you buy elsewhere? Can i buy one of the alarms above and have a shop install it?

4. What would you do personally if you were in my situation and needed an alarm.

5. Are there systems like the one above that doesnt have a remote start but still has the 2 way remote which lcd screen? Where online?

6. Should i buy some 1 or 2 piezos in addition to my alarm or should i buy a 2nd siren?

All of those are the same alarm. Go with which ever one is cheapest. Most shops charge around $120-$160 to install those alarms. There will be an additional price for any accessories that you add to the system. I would advise on more than one siren to make it louder. However, you'll need to wire up a relay to get them both to go off at the same time. The relay will also give you options to add piezos later on. All of the 3 alarms that you mentioned are DEI systems, which means that any DEI authorized shop can install the alarm. Hope this helps.

P.S. Where are you getting them for 189-199? I need to purchase one.

I have the Clifford 3.5RSX. I like mine. I am going to get the SST though when it comes out locally. Most shops are $50/hr. Mine was $150 installation. I payed $180 for the alarm on here.

More sirens, the better. I also reccommend getting te backup battery.

sonicelectronix.com has the all 3 of the alarms. i think ill go with viper just because most people know what a viper system is and i know few people with one. So most shops will be able to install the alarm even if u dont buy it from them?

Where can i buy a relay and extra siren?

the shop will have relays and probly extra sirens are available, but check with the shop first, and if they dont order one off of ebay

I enjoy my clifford 3.5rsx...the dual stage sensor is nice too. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I also have the battery backup/siren. worthwhile IMO.

If I were you.. I'd go to a shop and talk to one of the installers personally and ask him to do it as a side job. I did it and he charged me only 100 dollars. He's a good friend now too.

I've seen more problems with the 791xv blue remotes than the 881xp or Clifford RSX3.5. They suffer the same fate as their previous 790xv white remotes. Receive but can't transmit is the typical problem.

Python's replacement 990 with 1 mile range or Clifford's RSX series would be my vote. They have yet to fail on any installs I've done.

ive been hearing this lately ^^^^^

about the remotes breaking down often.

I thinking clifford now since it seems to have more features and up to 1 mile ulike the 1/2 mile viper.

Python is nice, but i hear clifford makes good stuff, and their siren is suppose to be pretty loud.

Wow, now that I think of it you're right. All the remotes I ever replaced were the blue and white ones, never one of the 881 remotes...

Strange isn't it? They all look identical. I've always thought they would all be made from the same location, regardless if it's hornet, python, clifford, avital, or viper. I'd like to contact DEI and find out.
