The dead giveway for me right off the bat, even without the other email being shown first, is that the person continuously uses the word "item" to describe the van.

Nobody who is legitimately buying something will use the word "item" over and over without specifically mentioning the actual thing for sale AT LEAST once.

Come on people...

Yeap. I just posted it here because it is something that people are constantly falling for.

 
Sending the cheque to a FBI office is going to do what now?
The FBI is hardly psychic.
Well probably nothing but now the sender is probably sweating balls when they google the address and see that they really sent it to the FBI office. LOL I probably should of put an field agents name on it.

 
Yes, I fully understand this. However, it was a cheque being sent, and yes, it could be written for more than the selling price (= scam). There is also a record of it through UPS. As others have stated, there isn't enough info posted to convince one that it was indeed, a scam.
Plenty info. UPS is not proof of a bad check. He can send it from the center using false address info, so how you gonna track him now?
