saz 3000d going into protect mode (HELP)

Ok little weird here now volt meter in the car is only readin 12.8 what the heck is goin on here ..arrrgghhhhb and radio not even turned up ..what

Happened to my 14.4-14.8 voltage

You need to start answering questions in a straight order. Get a pic of the DMM so we can see what settings you have and don't have.
i no bro just so frustrated right now sorry ,, cus now amp wot even go to 14'volts starts there then dies off to 12.5 within 5 min or so with no radio on or nothing heres a picture

ok which one do i set it on 200 -2m and do i check ground at amp with pos then the neg to where its grounded at ? and should read 0 ??

ok... here goes

those settings are just a range of how many ohms you are testing for... so, while you should be able to test it at 200 (because a good ground should only have 0.xx ohms) a bad ground can sometimes give you kilo or even mega ohm readings (and remember here, the higher ohm reading you get, that means the more resistance you will have for current flow) .... so, to start out i would put the range right in the middle, and then adjust from there... (so say you have it ranged at 20k, and you get a reading of .0002 or something like that, take it to a lower range like 2k or 200).

now, for where your going to want to test it and how....

what your DMM is doing when testing ohms, is sending a very small current from the positive prod, through whatever you're testing, and then back into the negative prod, so that it can measure the resistance... just keep that in mind.

so to test your ground, find a chassis ground a lil away from the ground you'll be testing (a bolt into the chassis will work, as long as it's steel, and unpainted)

that is where you will have your negative prod.

then take your positive prod, and place it on the lug that you have for your ground (make sure not to touch the bolt that is holding it in, as this can cause a false reading) ... when you do this, you should get 0.xx on your 200 setting (meaning you have 0.xx ohm resistance between the lug and chassis)... if you get 20k ohms or some high number like that, the ground is bad... if you get a good reading, then test that same ground, from the end of the actual wire to the chassis (the bolt i was talking about earlier)... and so on... do this for all your grounds, so that you can eliminate each ground as being good or bad.

hope that all makes sense

yeah i kinda you tube it also he took the neg put it on the battery terminal then touch the positive to a potential ground and kinda went thru that u mean something like this video ? so the lower the better then i think i got this

Word of advice invest in a fluke multimeter it is the most used tool I have for car audio and if you know how to use it will tell you everything you need to know about a system.

yeah my ground checked good so i continued searching for a reason and or cause after rechecking all connections i check the alternator hhmmmm only getting 12.5 volts off the big 3 wire and checked voltage right at the alternator nut 12.5 while car is running ,,so im thinking the alternator took a sh*t on me , called mike explained what was goin on and basically said hes going to check with his mechanic to see that theres not some kinda of charging fuse ,but i already checked every fuse under the hood and in the car , unless theres one hiding theres no blown fuses so i guess i will havta send it back to him to fix
