Obviously you dont know anything about turbos. A wastegat will diminish performance? I dont really know what you meant. All turbos have wastegates, most are internal, its when you run big boost numbers that small built in ones cant handle it and blow open, then you have to move to an external. Still not sure what you meant

I said that it would diminish reliability (long term - if that's a concern at all), not performance. And my apologies for any confusion, as I am used to calling the turbocharger as a whole a "wastegate".

I remember that car from an ebay sell for 10k about 3-4 years ago:laugh:

 
Well, a wastegate is just one parts of a turbo system. Running a car that is not orgionally a turbo car at say around 5 psi you are ok, past that you have to lower compression maybe even go forged, just depends on application. If you want to run some real boost then you need an engine rebuild and change alot in the fuel and engine management system. Thats why I said for him it would be best to start with a factory turbo car and go from there, seem like he doesnt know much and is just getting started.

 
Yea I kind of figured that there would be the cost of everything, and then down the road I'd have to upgrade more to keep it going. Thereby putting more money into it.

You didn't, you weren't smart enough to think of that one yourself. I said it to try to save your pathetic ass from throwing a tubro on a 100 hp honda lol. **** that thing will have as much hp as a hyundai someday if you keep this up!!!

Maybe after you get your tubro, you can throw a ****!ng huge *** wing on your front wheel drive car, so you have good traction at 150+.

As long as it is done right and the motor is in good shape before you put the turbo on you would be fine. But instead of boosting your d16 maybe you should consider a b16/b18 swap. More power and still very reliable. What car do you have.
