Sattelite Radio

I have a really annoying whining noise coming through my speakers in correlation to my rpm's. I realize this is probably caused by a ground loop because the noise only comes through when I have my head unit set to Aux for the sattelite radio. The fm/am frequencies do not have this noise, nor does the cd function of my head unit. Also, I connected my mp3 player to the car and found that since it wasn't running off the car's battery that there was no whine. I'm not sure where to go from here.

My system is:

Head Unit-Panasonic Cq-Dvr909u

Audiovox Sirius sattelite radio

Speakers-

Front-Infinity Perfect Series

Rear- Alpine (not sure exact type)

Both of which handle around 90-100 watts rms

Powered by Sony XM-4060GTX

I have never had satellite radio of any type and as such have never had to hook up one of the receivers for it. Does it require its own power and ground connections (I will assume so but it doesn't hurt to ask)

It sounds like you've already narrowed it down to what component in your setup is causing the noise so I would suggest the noise is caused by poor ground on that component.

I have a portable car battery charger that has 2 cigarette adapter slots to power 12v items. Would that work to test whether or not its the cigarette lighter?

ya that was the problem. So as for hardwiring it, I just cut off the ciggarette lighter and then cut the cig adapter off the sattelite radio power cable. Then crimp the + to + and - to - right?

Take the Sirius power cable, cut the end off with the cigarette plug, find an accessory power in the car (use your radio's accessory and ground, or go to the fusepanel and tap an accessory fuse), and you're done.

I hardwired it to my system and now the noise is even worst. Instead of just being present when songs are playing quiet parts it overpowers the sound even during the louder parts of songs. Still, its only through the sattelite radio, nothing else. Would using this filter get rid of the problem? http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?cp=2032059.2032325.2032326&productId=2062214&tab=summary

I noticed it had a 1/8 adapter so I could just plug it in to the sirius then it would eliminate the problem right?
