SAs or DDs ?

Box specs? power on tap? Goal?
not sure of the box specs, ill have to ask for those once ive decided.

not sure of my power on tap as im not an expert lol, but i drive a 2006 chev malibu v6 6 spkr 3.5l, running 4 guage now, but before i install my subs im going to be leaving that 4 guage wire there, and running 0 guage for my new subs and new amp(once i decide), and in the later later future use that 4 guage to run my speakers.

my goal is to just have some LOUD bass, i like bass, so i want lots of it.

even if my electrical isnt enough to power these subs fully, id still like to get them and run at low level until i get a better alternator or battery or whatnot.

thanks for your time

i can only see how he'd be comparing prices between 1500 series and SA series. the 600w part i read above somewhere confirms the SA power rating. if there is to be a usability comparison between the 1512 and the SA12, you have a sure fire bet with the SA12. it is a very well-rounded subwoofer and can yield wide-bandwidth results without the use of massive amounts of space. the power handling of the SA12 is greater than the 1512 as well, but the overall subwoofer and enclosure combined efficiency is what the goal should be. the SA is a hands-down easy choice for almost ANY application.

the last thing he'd want to do is supercharge the 1512 and go from semi-wide bandwidth capable in 3 or so gross cubes......to 1/2 octave bandwidth capable +/-3dB in 3.5 gross cubes +. not specifically desirable to useless in 3 seconds flat. it throws the balance of BL, Qms and Re off into the likes of 9510, 3510 and Z series sub categories.

get a pair of the SA12's or even SA10's, depending on the maximum dimensions you have available for the enclosure. it's not because of one brand being better than another either, but you gave us two choices. of those two, you are hands down better off using the SA12's.

I love my sa-12's although I am not giving them nearly enough power but they still sound nice but I can tell they are craving more wattage so if you do go with the sa's make sure you get an amp that will power them I am going to get the next model up from what I have at some point, the aq2200d.

I run dd subwoofers and sundown amplifiers so i am not bashing either company. But at that budget level i would consider going with a single higher quality 15 inch subwoofer instead. You can get a really nice 15 for that kind of money.

I wouldn't compare the 1500 directly to the SA -- the 1500 line has a 2" coil vs. the 2.5" on the SA which also utilizes our coil ventilation techniques to increase it's capacity beyond typical 2.5" coils (I have lots of test data on this). If you were comparing head-to-head power handling you would need to look towards the 2500 series.

On a lower powered setup I wouldn't be too shocked if a 1500 was slightly louder on burps, though, as it's a significantly lighter moving mass driver with a looser suspension -- if you continuously put a good bit of power to them I'd really consider the SA line as you'll end up with much more power compression on the smaller coil of the 1500. Not to mention that the SA features dual faraday rings stock (lower THD) and likely more linear x-max with 19mm of Klippel verified one-way excursion (although, DD does not provide this spec to confirm).

*thumbs up*

That is the goal of the SA line -- broad bandwidth with small space requirements.
