Its usually not a big deal until it breaks. Then it is too late, and she gets screwed.

I see your point. I'll ask her to check with her landlord on the matter. I do not have one, so the point is moot for me.

I learned in my first relationship, that there are some expenses where you expect zero return. IMO, this is like throwing money in the trash...but if it makes her happy, even temporarily, then I guess it is worth it.

When I was searching for repair parts for my lights, I found quite a few places selling them. The really cheap places were local pickup only.
