This car audio thing can be quite amusing as well as exciting at times. We all have expereinced the Circiut City, Best Buy fools who when you ask them cirtain questions look at you like a idiot, because they don't know much, if anything, but let me tell you about another salesman I know in the Carbondale, Il area. He is the manager, in his early 30's of a place called Stereo One. I met him a couple of years ago when I started to puting togeather my system. He has a amazing wealth of knowledge, wonder merchendice, and oversees some amazing installs from the simple to the rediculous. Over time, because I don't down that way to often, he has never tried to sell me something I didn't want or need. He has never talked down to me, or gave me audio gobble de gook. He actually took me in his car and showed me the system he is working on. All I can say is OMG! Crystal clear at all volumes. A real work of art. I live by St. Louis and I get to go to alot of differant shops. This one is one of the very best. We all like to make fun of the agressive sales guys, or the idiots we run across out here, but let us also remember that there are some good one out here too. Helping you to design the best system that you are looking to do, not what they are looking to do or sell. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

A great salesman to me is someone who answers the questions I ask truthfully , and won't if they don't know the answer . There are some out there , and I tend to go to them even if their prices are higher . Just cause I know I will get honesty //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Aww, I was hoping for a good story //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

But yeah, I enjoy the feeling I get when I walk into a store, and the salespeople are friendly and knowledgable. When salespeople come over as pushy, stupid, and ignorant, I just turn around and walk out.

I don't like belittling people , But nothing will make me want to more than an arrogant salesman . I have been known to lash out a time or two //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yeah, usually when I worked the sales floor at CC, I tried to be as friendly, helpful, knowledgable, and non-pushy. However, whenever some dilhole came in and that Kicker ain't shit, and that JL Audio is the only good car audio company out there, I would very subtley insult them till they got my point and left. I love how they go from arrogant and boisterous to quiet when you show them that they know nothing.

Absolutly! LOL. When I didnt know much of anything, compared to people on here, I found a sales guy in St. Louis here that was also tremendously helpful. I let him know I was hungry for some knowledge, which I was, so I opened my ears and listened. It is rediculous to predend you know stuff when you really don't. A knowledgeable person will be able to do flip flops around you, and you will never learn anything.

I've learned so much from this site. Had a guy at BB the other day tell me how eclipse HU's are shitty, and how any Type E would "out hit" a DD...any series. I just started laughing and put him in his place.

In the end he ended up pissed and walked away as I stood there with a huge grin on my face //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif.

When I worked for CC, they actually asked us what department we wanted to work. I obviously picked car audio, mostly because I know very little about HT, and I'm a Mac user, so the computer dept wasn't for me. It amazed me the variety of people working in 12 volt. This was back when CC had Alpine, Audiobahn, and Bazooka as their main sub lines. We had Infinity too, but I think everybody does. Anyways, back on point, we had one guy who swore up and down that the Bazooka P-Miller subs were better than a Type-R! Even though every single day we had at least one of his customers come back because the Bazookas blew up. It just amazed me. And no one tried to stop him. There would literally be a customer ready to buy a pair of Type-R 12's, and this idiot would hook him up with P-Miller's and an Audiobahn amp. While I'm selling Type-R's and yes, I would even sell a bunch of the 'Bahn Flame-Q's. They were a hell of a lot less troublesome than the bazookas. So yeah, there are a lot of people that work in the big box stores that have no clue what quality components are, but there are a few, usually, who know what they're doing and will set you up right.

I worked at a local CC for a month I think. It was mainly for shits and giggles before committing to the Air Force (and to bring back funny stories to Innovative Rides //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif ).

When the P.Miller subs went on sale for $26.06 after tax I jumped on it. It was definately not a bad subwoofer and they would take whatever my IA20.1 would give it (at 2ohm of course).

I use to be friends with a local car audio shop owner. He used to hook me up big times on deals and hell even did an entire install that retailed for over 5g's for about 2g's and paid him when I had money. Now that is customer service, lol! I miss those guys there as they had some of the best of the best in this area as far as installers go. Now the local shops around here **** and are out to get ya. I really wish his bussiness ethics didnt bite him in the ***, cause I would have every car done there to the day I got out of audio. Oh well such is life.

salesmen are paid to sell shit. they aren't audiophile like the people on this forum because they work for next to minimum wage. when i used to work on the salesfloor, my job was to sell electronics. i had to try to hock no name protron crap to people. then all of the sudden i get asked to work in sporting goods and i don't know or give a shit about outdoor crap. idk anything about the guns we carry, hunting equipment, fishing crap etc. these people are salesmen not experts in the field. thank god i don't have to work on the floor and talk to customers. i hate people //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
