SA X-18 and the HDC318 choice..

So, I cant' decide on the two.. I know the X just came out, looks pretty impressive by the numbers. I know the HDC are proven, a great sub for the price point. I believe the X is about $50 more then the HDC, trying to stay in this price range. Plan on trying the AB 4480 amp on these running 1 ohm, i'm starting to wonder if it's a bit too much for these two subs.

Both subs will be ported, not to worried about the size as I have a bit of room to build. I only want to do 1 sub as this is my work truck, daily music and no crazy 'hair, bag, balloon, tricks' like they put on YouTube!!. This thing will get ran everyday so I'm looking for a bit of efficiency, for a lack of a better word.

Electrical will be handled, big 3 and the correct battery to boot. It has a stock 180 AMP alt right now and I have 3 new 'Die Hard Platinum 34/78DT' still sitting around from my last truck. I think that should cover the AB 4480, I hope!!.

If I cant decide I'll just splurge and get the Tantric HDD 18 and be done with it...

Just looking for your advice and not a 'vs' thread... I dont need another ******* match, plenty of threads around here that has all the drama of a woman...

Thats a 2200 watt amp, probably not too much power for either of the subs if you know what youre doing.

both of those will handle that power fine ..the x will probably be more musical and the hdc will like a larger box

OK, change of plans. Will be running the IA 20.1 amp I bought from fireitup. 1800 @ 1 ohm with potential to go lower. Still leaning on the x series subs from SA, running at 1 ohm as a daily driver. Thoughts? ?..

IA 20.1 will do a hell of a lot more power than a 4480... But the X should be able to take that all day long, it's got as much (or more) thermal and mechanical capacity as the older version of the Z.

Tell me about it... just need to feed it right. Should do some nice #'s with the x series. I'll just buy an x-18 and see what happens. Never know until I try it. .

I vote x as well... I have had hdc3 18's and they are great, but you can't beat the look of a x/z18 they just look wicked

If I melt the sub like Chernobyl, at least it will double as a butt pad. Plenty of cushion on that surround.
