SA-8 V2's; How long to break in?

You'll be fine giving them full power. Just make sure to set your gains correctly, preferably with an oscilloscope. If you give those SA8s that much dirty power they will go up in smoke

I pound the shit out of all my subs from the get go. I don't see a point in a "break-in" period. As long as you're not a dumbass and set your gains correctly there shouldn't be a problem.

They're in a 33 hz box, aero ports if it matters. What do you mean dirty power? I generally just set my gains via heard distortion when it comes to door speakers, but I feel like it isn't going to work with subs. I figured since SA-8's can handle so much power, keeping gains at nominal would be fine for them. They can easily handle 1k each, but I was just concerned that there was a break in period.

Edit; If you mean by dirty power, like bad source, stock alt or bad headunit, faulty cables, I've invested quite a bit into the quality of all the materials in my setup, HO ALT, Knuconceptz all around, big three.

all a "BREAK IN" dose is give time for the spiders to loosen up. you gotta remember your sub is cooled by moving air and if the spiders are too stiff it wont be moving enuff thus not letting it get its full cooling.

as i recomend, break in time for subs i build. the time it takes for you to unpackage, mount in the enclosure and crank the vol knob. that is it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

He means the hifonics amp doesn't put out clean power.

It say's its rated, but I trust ratings as far as I can throw them. Could you perhaps explain the difference between dirty and clean power, I know Hifonics hasn't always been a reputable brand but I've heard only good news about the brz and brx series. I want to see one of them clamped.

Dirty power = distorted signal. Clean power = non distorted signal.
