SA-8 Prototype Is Here !

Lots of people asking about mounting specs :
5.25" depth

8.25" overall basket OD (no gasket)

7.25" cut-out diameter

6.25" magnet diameter
mark me down for 4! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif:laugh://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

just letting you know i will be the first to buy once pre-sale opens!

Just a guess, these might like around 1 - 1.25 cubic feet a piece tuned awround 33, obviously higher tuning would mean more SPL.
i hope so been waiting of for these for ever it seems and it just so happens i got 1.25 cubes at 33 hz two of these and a sae 1200 should sound nice

Freshly measured specs, should break in a bit (CMS should be 100 uM/N):
FS: 41.6 Hz

Qes: 0.513

Qms: 6.60

Qts: 0.476

Vas: 3.28 L

BL: 17.14

Cms: 83.34 uM/N

Mms: 175 g
Sensitivity @ 4 Ohms and the approximate weight of the driver?

Sensitivity is *low* on this driver - 78 dB - as it is designed to have lots of low-end output in a TINY box. See Hoffmans Iron Law "You can have low end extension, high efficiency, or small enclosure size. Pick two."

http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/index.php?/topic/7115-hoffmans-iron-law/

Of course, as you may know, sensitivity is a very low importance spec for a real SUB woofer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

PS: The driver weighs 20 lbs.

Thanks, this driver won't work for the project. I appreciate the reply.

Thanks, not for me.
I will provide actual power to SPL output figures as well once testing starts - I bet you will be surprised //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

The E8 was in the 79 dB range for sensitivity and performed VERY well on 200 RMS.

Although, if you aren't going ported this driver probably isn't the best choice either.

Ever under the best circumstances, the 20lb weight kills the driver's viability. It would be going into a weight-sensitive, high-performance automobile. The first sub weighed 33lbs w/enclosure; the current sub tips the scales at 24lbs (w/enclosure).

Gotcha //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Coil rock ? *laughs*
Nah... the dot is not perfectly centered so it looks like it's jumping around.
Um, no. If the dot weren't centered, it'd still be moving in a up and down. It's pretty much making a star at the beginning of the video. I am aware that the camera is moving, but even before it pans down, you can see gratuitous horizontal movement.
