SA-8 Power Handling?

Would 2 of these on 1500 watts be ok for daily, or pushing it probably? Sounds like the failure mode would be bottoming out/mechanical failure rather than burning up?

Any opinions on how 2 of these on 1500 would compare to a SDC2.5 10 on 900, a noticeable improvement in output and accuracy?

 
I haven't seen one burn up yet (that wasn't wired out of phase) -- only a few with spider coming off the frame. That is easily prevented as follows :

It is VERY likely you would hear signs of mechanical distortion before you blow these up thermally. See my video of free air testing -- at 18 seconds I turn the 1500D up to nearly full un-clipped output :



If you hear something like that you are knocking on the door of mechanical limits.

This'd be right behind my head in a vette so it's pretty easy to listen for mechanical noise, etc.
