s15l7 or 2 12's

i really thought that a single 15 sub, like the l7, known for spl, could easily outdo two 12's in spl comp. but now i hear lotta people sayin that since 2 twelves have more cone area, they get louder. i found a s15l7 for 220 shipped, and im buying the amp, after i buy whatever sub(s). so, before i buy this, spending this much, are there any other pair of twelves out there for bout this amount (220-250) that would get louder than a 15 L7? i know it depends on the set up, and im prolly gon be porting any of these. thanks ppl

I'd go w/ the 15" L7, it's got more xmax than the 12" l7, and more cone area..

you can't really go wrong with them, especially for that price. Get a 1200-1500w amp and you won't be disappointed. Put it in a 6 cube box tuned to 43 hz
