Ok i got a 1983 chev s10 extended cab, ok the backseats fold in and out on either side of the truck and when the seats are out there is quite abit of room behind the seats to put subs in, but the thing is that i need to make a plexiglass face that the sub fits in,Im takin out the seats but it is all plastic where the sub is gonna be sitting... arg this is hard to explain, I need to mount the plexiglass but i cant just mount it the plastic i need to do somethin, i need help!

why dont ya just costomize and take the seats out . re put down interior . and put ya an 18 in that beast. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

well i am going to customize, i found out that the peace of plasic is just one little bit, so i took it out the other nite, and i found out that i can make it an enclosure all it is, is bare metal behind it. its just a square metal box so im gonna have a 12" sub faceing it, so its pounding inside the area, i think it'll work, all i need now is an amp and 2 subs lol. im preferably getting sony xplod package off a friend, im also takin out the seats so i hope it looks good...

I just finished (almost; no carpet yet) installing my own custom box in my 96' s-10 extended cab. I know what you mean about the seats, I designed my box so they could still fold down and people could sit back there no problem. I don't know if you'd be interested in the design, because there is no fiberglass, and it only houses an 8" sub, although you could mess with the dimentions and make it a 10 or even 12. The key feature of my design was being able to install the amp inside the box. I didnt know where else to put it. Youd be surprised at how much bass the little guy puts out though! It is an infinity kappa with a 7 pound double magnet though, so that might help. I can post some pics if you want. Take it easy.

Audiotaylor,

I would appreciate a few pics of your install. I have a 1996 Mazda extended cab pickup and am looking for ideas on how to best install my soon to be arriving 12" SVS sub and an Orion CS200.4 amp....stealth preferred. Thanks.

This is the over all view of it. Tomorrow, Ill take a few more pics when it's bright so you have a better idea what to do. The amp is located just below the sub on the inside of the box. I used nuts and bolts with locking washers for every mounting hole on the amp and the sub (probably not necessary, but what the hell). I used carpenters glue and wood screws for the actual box, and then put on the grille.

To mount the box to the truck, I used angle brackets avalible at any hardware store. 5 inch ones on the bottom, and 3 inch ones on the top. I started by bolting the bottom ones thru the body of the truck (so they came out the bottom) but that was too much of a pain, so then I just used size 10 by 1" wood screws for the rest. Same for the ones on the top. Like I said, Ill post some more pics tomorrow.

Ok, so im thinkin bout buying a amp,and 2 subs and a pioneer deck, would a 500watt amp push 2 12's? if the 12's were about 1000w each?

If the amps 500 watts per channel then it would be okay, but if its 500 watts bridged, then I would get a more powerfull amp, or less power requering subs. I mean, you could go with what your saying; you wouldnt smoke your amp, but the subs arent going to put out any more power than you supply them with.

Alright i see what u are saying. But i might go with a 760w sonyxplod amp, that is alot for a truck, 2 12's and a 500w amp or somethin like that, when i get it installed it should pound like nuts

Umm...Yeah. Your windows will probably blow out! I get a lot of power from my one 8" Infinity! Two 12's will be insane!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif I love the pioneer decks because you can adjust the bass, mid, and high sepratley. Your set-up will definaly be kickin!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Later.
