Well i am pretty new to the car audio scene,

The set up i have in my car is a 320W TML AMP hooked up to 2 12" MTX that i believe are 4 ohm

The first thing is that lately my amp has been cutting out, probably about once a day. Is this due to there being too much load on it, or what

Second i bought a new sub and box i want to ADD to my system. This is a pioneer 10", it is a dual voice coil sub. n im not sure on the wattage. This is a sub that is offered in an audio system in my car. I bought it for the box that it comes in.

I have been told that my amp will not run it, which i dont doubt cause it is having trouble running the 2 12's now, the local car audio store says that i would have to hook them up in parallel and the resistance would then be below one ohm which no amp will run.

So i am looking for a new amp. What i am thinking is get a new one for my 2 12"s n use the old one for my 10", this will work right? as in the TML amp will run the dual voice coil sub.

finallly what should i be looking for on the new amp, im looking on craigs list n have found a 1600 (max) watt amp for $90 Can i run an amp that has higher wattage than my subs(which i think is 300 a piece), should be as long as i dont turn it up all the way it wont be a problem right?

Please help n sorry for all the questions that are probably dumb.

a couple pointers for new guys are make sure you know what ohm load your subs are gonna be wired to first off so you can get an idea of how much power you want. usually a over powered amp is good because most of the amps im sure your looking at are gonna be clipping in there max rms range. just make sure you dont use the bass boost and the gain NOT AS A VOLUME. make sure you only look at rms too.

btw im not sure what size wire your running but anything over around 1600 is gonna need 1/0 gauge wire. Anything around 1000 rms is good to run 4 gauge.
