So i'm considering installing the sound deadener myself. I'd like to put it in the trunk as well as on the front doors. Now I've never taken off a door panel and have NEVER installed this stuff. Is this something I should have done professionally or is it a realitively simple yet time consuming task. If I was to have it done professionally how much does it cost to have done? I have a small car with a small trunk... i know thats a very broad description but it's all I got right now. Oh and I'd like to make the 5 1/4 speaker ports in the front doors into 6 1/2's, how is this done? Is this something I could do myself? No prior experience on this either but would LOVE to save the money to put toward more equipment, at the same time I want it done right. What do you guys suggest? Thanks for your time...

I would alway suggest a store to do the work. Find someone who has a strong rep on taking care of customers. Explain what you want and IF YOU FEEL comfortable with what they have told you, then get it done. When replacing speakers in a vehicle that is diffrent in size from the factory, speaker plates can be made. It can be a pain in the butt when making them fit. This is why I say find a shop to do it.

- Installing deadener isn't difficult. It is time consuming, though. Taking everything apart and putting it back together is the most difficult aspect of the job.

- You can find tutorials on google that'll walk you through removing your door panels.

- Most of the time modding a 5.25" location to accept 6.5" speakers isn't difficult. In most cases, a simple mdf ring and a little trimming of plastics and/or metal gets the job done.
