Running wire to trunk of '99 VW Jetta

Alright I've been stuck for the past day on how I'm going to run all the wiring back....I want to do it the right way going through the firewall and not go through the fender. That's how I did it in my last car and it looked like hell.

Now the question is does anyone on here have a 99 Jetta that has put a system in through the firewall?

I don't know where to go through and considering I have rear fold down seats (bottom and top seats can move) I'm not sure where to go once I get to those, either.

Just look in your passenger or driver foot wells for a grommet that already has wire coming through it, thats what I did with my car then I just ran it under the carpet and back to the trunk. I did have to drill out the grommet a bit so be careful you dont hit any wires already there also you may have to remove some beauty covers on the underside of your dash to see the wires coming through.

Find the rubber grommet GearGuy mentions and then just keep the wires to the side alnog the bottm or in the panels if you do not want them to be seen when the seats are moved.

I've got a 2000 Passat I recently installed a system in and had a triangular grommet on the driver side fireweall. I slit a hole in it, passed the wire through, and it came out above the pedals. Nice and easy - check to see if you've got the same grommet I'm speaking of. Not sure exactly how similar the jetta's and passat's are....

I actually found that grommet on my own thanks to a light...couldn't find the empty one without it. Very handy lol.

NOW my problem is getting off the side runner panels...they feel like they're glued in!

I got the back one off but the middle panel for the seatbelt and the front panel are almost impossible to take off I feel like I'm going to snap them in half if I try pulling any harder.

Although that was a few days ago...I'll retry now maybe I won't be as frustrated lol.

Thanks for the help guys.

On my passat you had to take off the kick panel which had 1 screw, and my side panel was all 1 long *** piece with a nut under the rear bench seat. And it was held in my some tight *** metal clips so you gotta pull hard.

My dad suggested a putty knife which worked pretty amazingly. Got all of it out in about a half hour and installed everything...now my trunk rattles like fccking crazy lol. If its not one thing its the next haha. thanks for the help guys.

well I talked to you on aim...but I turn the zune up the highest it goes (20) and plug it into my AUX1 (front input) on my pioneer deck. The settings on my deck are the exact same as when I play a cd, and I just turn it up 7-8 more than I would a cd. Works perfectly and it's as clear as can be. Bass, mids, and highs all sound great.
