running tweeters of the HU

what are your opinions on doing that? (HU- premier 880prs)

i was planning on going active and don't know if i should buy something like a JL 450/4 or just a good 2-channel amp that does 150wrms to the mids.

My main goal is to try to save as much money as possible without losing much SQ.

Will the HU power the tweeters well enough to get LOUD and keep up w/ the midbass and sub?

Depends on the tweeters in question. Some can perform well off *** little as 10-20w rms each, and others will really come alive with a lot more power.

99StangGT was doing this with an Alpine 9815 in his car. I forget what tweets he was running though, it's been a little over a year. They sounded okay, I know he was adding a 4-channel amp though. I'm using an amp for my mids and tweets in my active setup.

I ran my vifa xt 25's and aa poly mids of my alpine 7987. Sounded pretty decient off the stock amp. Oddly enough in 3 way mode the internal amp crosses over the signals for the amp as well. Front for treble, rear for midbass. Just like how the rca's are.

I had to attenuate them down about -3 since they over powered the mids.
