Running Through Firewall

I just used some expanding foam and sealant on mine. Works just fine. Will be a little more work having to remove it if I ever need to run more wires but I'll worry about that when the time comes.

Those $7 grommets are not required. I use the cheap 3/4" $0.50 snap grommets and hotglue them in place. I get them in 100pc bags and never had a problem.
No, they aren't necessary. But the guy asked about grommets, so I linked the first suitable one I came across. A little bit of electrical tape can work just as well, but some people don't like installing stuff that way...

True. I searched around and couldn't find the pop grommets I use in less than a 30pack. And they were more shipped than just 1 of the ones you posted.

I get the 100pc packs for ~$16.

HOme depot ftw.

F that

$1.79 for a 3/4" that fits 0awg perfectly and 1/2" that fits 4awg. They're called Strain Relief Cord Connectors found in the electrical section.

agree'd. electrical tape does not work just as well, or well at all. always use a grommet.
I was just saying the grommets aren't absolutely necessary. I've seen literally hundreds of installs where the person didn't use a grommet to pass wiring through a firewall and not once have I heard of any of these people living to regret that decision. I'm not saying you shouldn't use a grommet, or that there's no way your wiring can short out, but I have seen MANY people neglect the situation altogether.

And for the record, I don't use electrical tape in this situation...

I get what you're saying, but it's bad advice tbh. A hole in the firewall can be razor sharp and slit through electrical tape and the wire pretty easily in the normal course of day to day driving. If people neglect it, they're dumb, and again always use a grommet lol
