running the power wire UNDER the car

I was just wondering if anybody here has run their power wire under the body of their car, for huge wire like 1awg or bigger. I guess you'd have to drill a hole somewhere in the trunk, make it water proff, somehow protect the wire from errotion, etc. So, does anybody have any tips and tricks?

I am currently running my 4ga power cable under the floor in my ford explorer. This has worked very good for me in the past on other vehicals as well,(1991 explorer,1996fi50)

The best advise I could give you is to cover the entire wire with split loom tubing,and either use frame clips,adel clamps to fasten the power cable to the frame. I am also using a firewall gromit that screws togather. You install one side of the gromit on the top side of the floor and the other on the bottom. this gromit will self seal and when you tighten it down it also snugs up arround you'r power cable. wow that was a run on but I hope it will help you out.

i have seen a car were someone ran the wire straight over the car and his rcas and remote from the hu to the trunk could have used it as a clothes line also

yeah i run my 1 guage under my 04 silverado, no problems, just be sure and use gromets when you run the wire thru a metal hole

I ran my 1/0 power wire underneath my Suburban in 1'' flex conduit. You can buy this stuff by the foot in the Home Depot/Lowes electrical department. I then zip-tied the entire lenght inside the frame underneath the car. You can use a rubber grommet to bring the wire back into the cabin. yes, i've ran it underneath the car but was dumb enough to not look twice at where I was drilling and ended up with a hole right next to the exhaust. Hey...at least I didn't go on the other side next to the gas lines hahahaha

(ended up using the hole for a screw in battery post to the bare metal as an extra ground. underside went to the frame after...top side went to the mid amps)

where did you find the rubber grommets at?
