Running speaker wire through door grommet on 2009 saturn vue

Hello, I already have aftermarket speakers on all four doors and subwoofer connected to an amp. The speakers are amplified through the factory wiring through the back of the after market receiver. Now i'm planning on buying pro components speakers rated at 150RMS, which is too much power for the factory wiring to handle. I'm planning on running 16gauge speaker wiring from the speakers to the amp on the fronts only. I'll leave the factory wiring intact just incase i decided to sale or exchange my car (so far love my Saturn, no problems yet:)). With that been said, i would like to run the 16gauge cable from the passenger door through* the door grommet and into the car. Getting the grommet remove from the side of the speaker its preety easy , my concern is getting the new speaker wire from the side of the car.*

*

Has anybody done this before? I don't want spend my money on such a simple install

*

I have removed the side end panel, will remove the kick panel, and might remove the glove box to see if its more accessible to fetch the new speaker wire form the body of the car.

*

If anybody has done this before and there is an easier way to run the speaker wire wiyhout drilling into the body,*please don't let me take my panels apart..lol..

I use a metal clothes hanger and I tape the end of the wire to the end of the hanger and I push it through the rubber tube, just bend the metal so it doesn't cut any wires. Once it appears through the other side remove tape and pull by hand.

It can be tricky if you have a plastic multi-wire connector.

I don't know specifically what you're working with on that particular car, but in some cases you can take the connector apart and find open area to run new wires.

I had to do this with a contour and a taurus.

You'll just have to open it up and see what your options are.

Worst case scenario is you'll have to drill through the door and through the door jamb to run the wire.

I am working on a similar problem with a chrysler van.

THree choices 1 locate factory wire for each speaker in each kick cut and run your new wire from there... that short of a distance 150rms isn't to much for factory wire... 2 Find factory amp cut cut front out of the input harness and run new speaker wire from there to aftermarket amp (again not to much power for factory wire) 3 Pull door kick off and door skin unplug factory boot (if I remember its a plastic clip on car side with plastic plug in kick through to out side) If this is the case there is more then enough room to drill or notch the clip on both sides to run wire through clip... push wire through clip pull out till you can go to the end of the door... plug clip together then run wire through the rubber boot that goes around the clip (may have to pull rubber off the clip first) snake it through with a P3 long + screwdriver less chance to cut any wires that way... coat hanger bad idea seen people chafe wires) reach into door pull slack through... cut to length and hook speaker up... just did a GMC and ran 3 sets of speaker wires through factory boot clip and no drilling of car body or door needed... clean looking and no extra chance of water to get in or rust... Hit me up for more info or play by play on phone if needed.

What do you mean to fish it with a p3 long + screw driver? I managed to removed the rubber grommet but didn't have much luck removing the molex from the body hole.. The side that is attach to the car body is blue and the part that does back to the car door is white. On the top and bottom it has like a little hinge which one would usually push down and it would release. I managed to release it from the top but the bottom was kicking my ***.. When I did the bottom the top would go back in, when I manage to push both it still didn't come out.

I will try again on the weekend.. I'll take all the time I need..

It's hard to visualize but yes, take your time and think things through and Im sure you'll get it.

Bow that I'm doing it, it's easier than I thought. I order a set of 6 angle pick tool to aid on the removal of the back clip.. It should arrived tomorrow.. It should be a done deal in Saturday..

Thanks everybody for the advices

Take the molex plug apart find a part where no wires are going thru the plug and drill a hole in both pieces of molex ..plug it back in then feed the wires thru..there shoukd be some empty spaces in the molex

Yeah that's the plan, it's has more than enough spaces to drill on looking from the outside. When I take it out completely hopefully is the same case on the other side of the plug.. Hopefully I could drill around the molex and not around where the wires are connected..

Thank you
