running on one voice coil

does it hurt a sub to run it on just one voice coil if its dual voice coil??

i have a TRF 15" 1.5ohm DVC and my amp is only 1 0hm stable... sooo that would be .75 ohms if i hooked both up, right?

so right now im running it with just one voice coil hooked up.. just wondering if i am an idiot for doing it.

you wont damage it, no.

however, try connecting both coils in parallel, and see if the amp minds.

yes

you'll do more harm that way then running your amp at 0.75 ohms.

there is nothing wrong with running only one coil.

you will not do ANY harm, you will not break ANYTHING, how is running just one coil any different to having a single voice coil sub? lol

Your amp will be seeing above a 1 ohm load after rise if you show it a .75 nominal load. Wire that bish in parallel and see if it works.

ya, even if u wire it to .75 it will still be above 1 ohm

hell, i ran my RFt500.2 @ .7 ohms, and its only rated 2ohm mono stable... and it took it like a champ

your amp for one won't even be seeing a 0.75 ohm load with impedence rise, even if it was that amp will handle it regardless
