running 1/0 awg power 4 awg ground

I have always wondered what's the point of grounding to the chasis if you're using 1/0 wire, because I've heard that the body of a car is equivalent to 4awg. If it is, it seems like a waste.

bump, i'm curious about that last post.
Wouldn't it vary from car to car?

Depending on the gauge of metal used in the car?
yea, its kind of strange, i am not throwing it out the window, but i am kind of skeptical about that theory. if thats the case, then why would anyone make anything more than 4 gauge. it doesnt make sense. if that was the case, then its pretty hard to explain a performance increase when switching from 4 to 1/0. a chassis a a ton of surface area. someone enlighten us, i would like a definite answer.
